Turnwise Labs

How Turnwise works.

The mat measures pressure, temperature, and moisture. A small pod at the foot of the bed reads the sensors and sends a live pressure map to caregivers’ devices.

01

Map pressure

A matrix of 36 conductive columns and 72 rows creates 2,592 pressure-sensing points. The live map and pressure history show where the body is loading the mat.

02

Check each turn

Turnwise detects when a patient is turned and compares the pressure pattern before and after, checking whether the turn relieved the previously loaded areas.

03

Alert caregivers

Caregivers receive alerts when repositioning is needed or wetness is detected. Thin temperature and moisture sensors sit within the pad, alongside the pressure-sensing layers.

04

Tell sliding from turning

Timers follow each body area, not a spot on the mat. If a patient slides or shifts without turning, the same areas stay loaded and the timer keeps running. Sliding down the bed triggers a shear warning.

More sensing, built for nursing homes.

Continuous pressure mapping already exists, but it is priced and built for hospitals. Many nursing homes still rely on a turning schedule and a paper log, which records that a turn happened, not whether it actually relieved pressure. Turnwise is designed to bring live pressure mapping to the beds that need it most.
